COBY PORTALES WINS NATIONAL TRIP TO NASHVILLE.
to compete at the Super Nationals this April 5 - 7, 2013.
He won 2nd place after winning 6 of 7 chess matches this weekend at the TCA Region VII Scholastic  Chess Championships
in Los Fresnos, Texas. He played in the Elementary Championships Division.
Since joining the Royal Knights Chess Team,
his rating has improved from a USCF rating of 750 to
his new official USCF rating of 1466. Coby has worked
hard and managed to do all this within one year.
